About us

Welcome to MaisonNel B&B and Holiday home

In the French Alps, on the edge of the Ecrins National Park and just 5 minutes from the Route Napoléon, you will find this wonderful place for your overnight stay or holiday. The area surrounding MaisonNel invites you to enjoy many beautiful things. On the 'Activities' page you will find the unlimited possibilities of this area.

Villard Trottier and the surrounding area

Villard Trottier is located between Grenoble (90km) and Gap (15 km), just 3 km from the beautiful Route Napoleon. The hamlet belongs to the municipality of Saint Bonnet en Champsaur. Please pay attention; there are more than 30 'Saint Bonnet' in France, so the addition 'en Champsaur' needs to be added for the correct address. Saint Bonnet en Champsaur is a very small, cozy town with a regional function where you will find a real French baker and artisan butchers, but also two generous supermarkets, bars with a terrace, some restaurants and a nice weekly market. All this just 4 minutes by car from MaisonNel and also a very nice hike.

Villard Trottier is located in the Hautes Alpes department, on the edge of the Ecrins National Park. It is hard to describe how beautiful it is here. Summer, fall (so surprisingly beautiful), winter and spring; every season delivers the most beautiful pictures. Whether you stay 'low' or walk to the 3,000 meters, the overwhelming nature moves you time and again.

About the climate

MaisonNel is located in the high mountains and enjoys a mountain climate. This means we often have snow and frost in the winter and that it can be chilly in the evenings in the summer. The influence of the Mediterranean climate is very evident, we have on average 300 sunny days a year. On dry and sunny days you can enjoy your lunch outside, even in December.

About Els and Henri de Goede

In the summer of 2015 Henri en Els (Dutch people) bought the old, robust, natural stone farmhouse in the hamlet of Villard Trottier in the southern French Alps. The breathtakingview, the location to the south, the tranquility and the fantastic climate we got for free. Ever since then we have been here almost every school holiday. That was fine, because Els worked in secondary vocational education and Henri was an independent entrepreneur as a custom picture framer. We used the holidays to do work on the house. It was habitable, but did not yet have any comfort. In between the remodel work we have walked, cycled, swam endlessly and in the winter - of course - skied. After every vacation we found it more difficult to leave the house alone to go back home. We had a good time in Holland: lovely family and friends and we had both nice jobs, but the house in Champsaur always pulled us back.

We moved in the summer of 2018 and have settled here permanently. And it feels great! We would like to share the beauty of this environment with you.

We have been receiving guests since June 2019. The former grain loft has been transformed into a comfortable and spacious B&B, complete with its own entrance and its own bathroom, so that you can enjoy plenty of privacy.

We recently converted the old stable into a 2-4 person holiday-home. This holiday-home is available since August 2020.
