Bed and Breakfast MaisonNel
National Parc les Ecrins

Besides lounging in or around the house, at the picnic table, in the couch or in the hammock.

We recommend that you also explore the area. The possibilities are countless:

From the B&B there are several hiking trails, ranging from a half hour walk to a 10-hour trip to a 2,400 meter high summit. Or even multi-day cabin or camping trips.
We know almost all hiking trails in the Champsaur and Valgaudemar valley and are happy to give you advice and maps are of course available.

This is also a fantastic walking area in winter, with or without the so-called "raquettes" or snow-shoes.

To be fair; cycling in this area requires good physical condition. The area has a number of well-know cols from the Tour de France such as the Col du Noyer, the Col de Manse, the Col de Moissiere, Orcieres Merlette and Col Bayard.

ATB There are many kilometers of signposted, beautiful ATB routes in the valley. Bicycles and E-bikes can be rented in Saint Bonnet.

To ski
There are no fewer than 6 stations in the valley; from the very small Laye, Chaillol, Saint Lèger, Mélèzes and Serre-Eyraud stations, to medium-sized Ancelle and large Orcières Merlette. Ideal for both beginners and advanced skiers.

Cross country skiing There are numerous routes in the valley with a total of no less than 130 km of trails.

The areas of Céüse, Devoluy, Valgaudemar offer fantastic climbing opportunities from sport climbing to hooked and unhooked disciplines. We can inform you of the different possibilities.

Less than 5 kilometers from our B&B lies the delightful Plan d’eau du Champsaur, a recreational lake where the clear water of the river Drac flows through. With large lawns, play areas, a cozy terrace, pedal boats, water slide, and possibility of kayak lessons. For those who appreciate less entertainment: just walk a little further and enjoy wonderful, peaceful places among the trees.

Saint Bonnet en Champsaur also has a beautiful new indoor swimming pool.

Golf Also nearby our B&B is the 18-hole Bayard Golf Course.

City and villages

Besides Saint Bonnet en Champsaur, Ancelle and Pont de Fossé are also pleasant villages with shops and restaurants. In addition, every village no matter how small, has its weekly market. The well-known 'Vide grenier' (flea market) often takes place in the summer months.

Orcieres Merlette is a full fledged ski resort, with all the amenities that come with it.

Prapic is a typical idyllic little village where the mountain marmots eat out of your hand.

Gap, the capital of the department, has a pleasant old center with plenty of shops and a number of squares with many terraces. Domaine de Charance, with a beautiful view of the city, is also worth a visit.

Many more options in the area include:

Horseback riding, canyon exploring, para-gliding, rafting, bowling, a tree climbing park, etc.

Do you feel like touring by car? This part of France has numerous beautiful and special destinations: Notre Dame de la Salette, Notre Dame de Laus, Lac de Serre Poncon, Embrun, Devoluy via the Col du Noyer, Fort de Mont-Dauphin, etc.
